ICAI announces CPT, final exam results

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the results of the Chartered Accountancy final examination and the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) held in May 2008.

In the CPT, Ankit Vinod Tulsian bagged the all-India first rank and Pawan Sarda the second, while Maneesh Aggrawal and Saloni Shah shared the third rank.

An entry-level test for admission to CA, the CPT was held in 176 examination centres — spread over 105 cities in India and three cities abroad.

In the CA (Final) examinations, Mandar Pramod Dixit bagged the first rank, Nisha Girish Tere the second slot and Annapurna S. the third.

Residential course

The ICAI said in a release that the second batch of the three-month residential course, aimed at imparting soft skills to CA students, would begin on August 11.

The programme envisaged imparting general management, personality development and communication skills.

Intensive programme

The intensive programme would be organised at the National Institute of Financial Management, the training wing of the Government of India for senior civil services officers and other officials in finance and allied fields.

The training of the first batch was scheduled to conclude on July 18.

IT initiative

Meanwhile, the ICAI last week launched its IT initiative — the Tally Business Assurance Practice.

As part of this initiative, launched by ICAI president Ved Jain, CAs from Small and Medium Practice (SMP) can offer Business Consultancy Services to SMEs through the Internet by having a remote access to client data.

Through this facility they can help to generate working papers and audit reports.
