Chance for Olympic hopefuls

BANGALORE: Susmitha Singa Roy will attempt to join J.J. Sobha as the second qualifier in the heptathlon event as part of the Beijing Games bound Indian athletic contingent, over the next two days as the 4th National Combined Events and Jumps championship will be held at the SAI South Centre here on Thursday and Friday.

Also in action will be the likes of Anju George, Pramila Aiyappa, Sahana Kumari, Ranjit Randhava and juniors like G.M. Aishwarya, Chandana and Pallavi Sukumar besides others.

Events will be held in the age groups of under-16, under-18, and under-20 for boys and girls and for men and women in decathlon, heptathlon, octathlon, pentathlon, long jump, high jump, triple jump and pole vault.

The event organised by Karnataka Athletic Association is being sponsored by Dept. of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS). — Special Correspondent
