Indian Bank trounces DDFA

Dindigul: Indian Bank, Chennai began its title defence trouncing Dindigul District Football Association 5-0 in the sixth annual TNEB Trophy State-level invitation football tournament at SDAT ground, here on Thursday.

Ilamurugan (25th minute, 46th), Fredy (27th, 49th) and Gunasekar (54th) were the scorers. In another match Nethaji Sports Club, Chennai posted a 4-0 victory over TNEB, Chennai. Naresh (2nd), Rajeshkumar (9th), Pavalavannan (38th) and Raju (72nd) scored.

Classic CC in last four

At Kayalpatnam, Dharmaraj’s 58 helped Classic Cricket Club, Tuticorin defeat Umarikadu Cricket Club by five wickets and enter the semifinals of the Kayal Trophy district-level Twenty20 cricket tournament.

The scores (quarterfinals): Umarikadu CC 157 for five in 20 overs (Mohanraj 37, Sivanraj 43, Elango 45, Subramani two for 35) lost to Classic CC 158 for five in 17 overs (Dharmaraj 58, Marikarthik two for 32).

Gavaskar CC, Alwar Thirunagari 157 for five in 20 overs (Raj 56, Pradeep 35, Prabakar 35) bt Power CC 133 in 19 overs (Ganesh 25, Rajasekar 32, Pradeep three for 10).

Khajamian HSS in final

At Madurai, Khajamian HSS, Tiruchi and PKD MHSS, Pollachi will clash for the title in the TV Sundaram Iyengar Memorial Trophy State-level inter-school volleyball tournament at Madurai. In the semifinal round robin league the teams registered two wins each on Wednesday.

The results (league): Khajamian HSS bt Vel Udayar HSS, Thiruvarur 22-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-16; PKD MHSS, Pollachi bt GHSS, Edamalaiyur 20-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-18; Khajamian HSS bt GHSS, Edamalaiyur 23-25, 25-11, 25-12, 25-14; PKD MHSS bt Vel Udayar HSS 22-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-18.

St. Antony’s posts win

St. Antony’s HSS (Nagapattinam) defeated Sikkal Government HSS 29-20, 26-29, 29-27 in a boys’ first round match of the triangular ball badminton tournament between the educational institutions of Tiruvarur, Thanjavur and Nagapattinam districts in Tiruvarur on Wednesday.

Badminton tournament
