HYDERABAD: United Progressive Alliance chairperson and AICC president Sonia Gandhi will undertake a seven-hour whirlwind tour of Potti Sriramulu Nellore and Prakasam districts on Thursday. A hectic schedule awaits Ms. Gandhi on arrival from New Delhi at Renigunta Airport. She will arrive at 11 a.m. at Tirupati and after meeting public representatives and party workers, board a helicopter to reach Nellore at 11.40 am. She will launch the second phase of the Rajiv Arogyasri comprehensive health insurance scheme for districts not covered under this scheme. Public meetingShe will proceed to A.C. Subba Reddy Stadium to address a public meeting. The party is mobilising large crowds for the meeting, the first to be organised after the crisis at the Centre following withdrawal of support by the Left parties to the Government. Ms. Gandhi will unveil the pylon of the 1,600 MW Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Project near Krishnapatnam. She will dedicate the Krishnapatnam Port to the nation. She will reach Ongole at 4 p.m. and interact with members of self-help groups, leave Ongole at 5.10 p.m. and reach Vijayawada airport. After meeting public representatives and party workers, she will leave for New Delhi at 6 p.m. APCC president D. Srinivas told a press conference here on Wednesday that he, along with Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, would leave from Begumpet airport at 7.30 a.m. and receive Ms. Gandhi at Renigunta. They would accompany her in all programmes.
