The festival, being organised at the Gandhi Bhavan Auditorium in connection with the National Book Festival, will host five films every day through the seven days. Each short film, anywhere between six and 22 minutes long, will focus on a particular period or issue during the freedom movement. The films on first day, July 17 catalogue the beginning of the movement, with short films such as 1857, The Beginning, which is about the First War of Independence and Then Came Gandhi, a film about Gandhi’s arrival from South Africa and his entry into India’s political life between 1915 and 1917. The list of films on July 23 features interesting ones such as Krantikari Geet (Part 1 and 2), which talks about the various songs that were sung during the freedom struggle movement. HighlightsThe list includes a film about the role of Kerala in India’s freedom movement. There will also be a film about the important role played by the Khasi tribe during the struggle.
