Main accused in murder case held

BANGALORE: The police have arrested one person, said to be the main accused in a supari murder reported from Coimbatore in March this year.

The police gave the name of the accused as Ramakrishna alias Satya (24) of Kamalanagar here. They were tipped off by the Coimbatore police regarding Ramakrishna’s presence in the city. The accused was produced before the V Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, who remanded him in judicial custody.

According to police, Ramakrishna was the main accused in the murder of Ananda Kumar, a jeweller, on March 18 in Pilamedu police limits in Coimbatore. While the Coimbatore police had arrested Vishwanath, Manjunath, Santosh, Pandyan, Pradeep and Nainram, the other accused, Ramakrishna was at large. It was alleged that Vishwanath had received Rs. 3 lakh supari from Saravanan to kill Ananda Kumar, and later arranged Ramakrishna to execute the work.
