Financial aid distributed to kin of fishermen

PUDUCHERRY: Education Minister and local MLA M.O.H.F. Shahjahan on Thursday distributed financial assistance to the wives of deceased fishermen through the Women and Child Development Department.

According to a release, the Minister handed over Rs. 50,000 each to 10 women belonging to fishing villages at Pillaichavady, Chinnakalapet and Ganapathychettikulam in Lawspet constituency. The funds were for the families of fishermen who died during the tsunami.

Welfare Minister M. Kandasamy and officials of the department were present.
