PALAKKAD: The police arrested three persons allegedly involved in smuggling of spirit into the State using the green channel passes of Malabar Cements Ltd. (MCL) through the inter-State Walayar check-post. The suspects were arrested from a lodge in Coimbatore on Thursday. The arrested are Ramesh, 42, alias Cargo Ramesh of Bangalore; and his accomplices N. Santhosh, 28, of Azad Nagar, Bangalore; and Edison Mathew, 35, of Ayur in Kollam district. The police said that with the arrest of these three key persons, all those involved in the spirit smuggling racket had been arrested. — Staff Reporter
