This Day That Age
The President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, declaring open the new block of the High Court Building in Hyderabad on July 16, said that if there was one thing that the country had inherited from the British Government which was of great value to them, it was the judicial system and now that they were free “we ought to act up to that glorious tradition and make courts and the litigant public conscious of the fact that we are here to do justice.” Dr. Prasad said that though the nature of litigation had changed with the abolition of zamindaris, addition of Fundamental Rights in the Constitution and the power of courts to issue writs and the coming in of industries cases, yet the “kind of learning and integrity and acumen, which the Judges have to bring to bear has not changed and will not change.”
