Navigation products from Blaupunkt

Anand Parthasarathy

BANGALORE: Blaupunkt, the Germany-based leader in car multimedia and information systems, has entered the Indian market with a range of global position system (GPS) satellite-based vehicle navigation systems. The company, part of the Bosch group that dominates the automobile components business worldwide, on Thursday unveiled the entry level TravelPilot 100, a basic portable navigation system with a 3.5-inch liquid crystal screen that can be fitted in cars, buses, taxis, two-wheelers — or even carried by pedestrians. It will retail in India for just under Rs. 19,000 and comes bundled with all-India map data that covers almost every town and includes detailed turn-by-turn guides for 174 cities.

Using the same map data base sourced from Indian cartographic provider MapMyIndia are two other models: the TravelPilot Lucca3.5 which includes the ability to play back MP3 music and display photos on its 4.3 inch screen (Rs. 21,990).
