Narendra shines

VIJAYAWADA: P. Narendra Reddy’s 95 (13x4) helped South Zone take the crucial first innings lead of 63 runs against North Zone in the three-day ACA u-19 inter-zonal tournament for P. Narasimha Raju Trophy here on Thursday. North Zone was 91 for three at the end of the second day’s play.

The scores: North Zone 208 and 91 for three in 29 overs vs. South Zone 271 in 73 overs (P. Narendra Reddy 95, Ahmed Basha 47, G. Brahmananda Reddy five for 55).

Matches drawn

The tie between West Godavari and Prakasam in the ACA Central Zone u-22 inter-district tournament for Md. Nazibullah Trophy ended in a draw at Guntur on Thursday. West Godavari, by virtue of first innings lead, garnered two points and Prakasam finished with one.

The scores: West Godavari 285 and 124 for six in 40 overs (Sk. Hussain 59) drew with Prakasam 190 in 60 overs (T. Siva Nageswara Rao 102, Ch. Sneha Kishore six for 50).

Chinna Babu slams ton

A century by Chinna Babu (129) helped Chittoor post 274 in 71.4 overs against Kurnool in the two-day ACA South Zone u-22 inter-district tournament for Gokaraju Ranga Raju Trophy at Anantapur on Thursday. In reply, Kurnool was 134 for three in 28 overs. In another match, Nellore, in reply to Anantapur’s 113, was struggling at 70 for eight.

The scores: Anantapur 113 in 45.4 overs (Sk. Akram five for 36) vs. Nellore 70 for eight in 42 overs.

Chittoor 274 in 71.4 overs (Chinna Babu 129, Kesava Kumar four for 41) vs. Kurnool 134 for three in 28 overs (Vinod 47 n.o).
