Fishing exhibition to begin today

KOCHI: ‘Indian fishing expo 2008’, aimed at showcasing the latest in fishing equipment and accessories, will begin here on Friday.

The organisers of the event said here on Thursday that the expo will provide an opportunity to explore the growing Indian fishing industry. It will be an ideal platform to exchange views and information, learn about the latest trends and new technologies in the fisheries sector.

New products and inventions will be exhibited at the E.W.A Hall opposite Durbar hall ground here. Fishing equipment, marine engines, paint, lubricant, ice box and spares will also be displayed at the venue.

Organised by the Seafood News and Coastal Times, the expo will bring fishermen, boat owners, and representatives of research establishments and government institutions under one umbrella.

A conference on ‘trends, opportunities and challenges of fishing industry’ will be also held as part of the expo.
