Rights panel orders inquiry
Staff Reporter
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has directed the Director of Public Instruction (DPI) to hold a departmental inquiry against the headmistress of the St. Thomas High School, Amboori.
The directive by SHRC chairman N. Dinakar comes in the wake of a complaint that the headmistress had harassed and publicly humiliated a class VI student and threatened to throw him out of the school allegedly for stealing a mobile phone in November.
The headmistress had reportedly acted on a complaint from a private firm housed near the school. The mobile was later recovered from another student.
