Woman dies in accident

Davangere: A pregnant woman died in a road accident near Belavanur village on the outskirts of Davangere city on Thursday. The police identified the victim as Sujatha (28), a health assistant working in a government hospital.
According to sources, Sujatha was going on her scooter from Davangere to Hadadi, where she worked, to apply for maternity leave when a private bus hit her scooter killing her on the spot.
Blocked road
Condemning the alleged negligence of the bus driver, village residents, anganwadi workers and members of self-help groups blocked the road.
The agitators demanded that speed governors be installed in all private buses plying on the road.
