ITDA staff flays ZP Chairman

Staff Reporter

ADILABAD: Employees of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Utnoor on Thursday wore black badges protesting Wednesday’s heated exchange between Project Officer M. Mallikarjun Naik and ZP chairman Ramesh Rathod. Employees charged the chairman with causing unnecessary problem at the ITDA by staging a protest with the body of a child who died at the Utnoor hospital.

Employees of the ITDA and District Tribal Welfare Office belonging to the primitive tribes of Gond, Kolam and Naikpod has resented the carrying of the body and placing it in the ITDA office by Mr. Rathod. They said by doing so he had belittled tribal traditions that concern disposal of the dead. On Wednesday evening, the employees had performed a shuddhi of the office of the Project Officer where the body was placed while the war of words went on.

On Thursday Asistant Project Officer Thodsam Chandu and others addressed a press conference wherein they criticised the chairman’s step. They wanted no such incidence to occur in future.
