Land handed over to Vallarpadam evictees

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Land for the rehabilitation of 35 families evicted from Kadamakkudy village for highway connectivity for the proposed Vallarpadam International Container Transhipment Terminal (ICTT) was handed over on Thursday. District Collector M. Beena drew the lot for distributing plots identified in Thuthiyur. As per the agreed package, those who lost six cents of land or more received plots of six cents each while those who surrendered five cents or less received plots of five cents each. Thus, 24 families received six cent-plots and 11 families five cent-plots.

The Collector said the drawing of the lots for distributing land to those evicted in Moolampilly, Eloor and Cheranalloor would be held by July 19. Those evicted from Moolampilly will be rehabilitated there itself; those from Eloor and Cheranalloor will be rehabilitated at Kothad and Vaduthala respectively.
