Private bus workers’ strike today

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Private buses will stay away from city roads on Friday following a strike called by a joint protest committee of workers’ unions demanding fair wage implementation.

However, bus services in Vypeen and Paravur areas have been exempted from the strike, Joy Joseph, general secretary of Private Bus Thozhilali Federation (AITUC) and convener of the joint protest committee, said. But services from these areas will not enter the city, he said.

Motor workers’ organisations of the CITU, BMS and INTUC are also participating in the strike, Mr. Joseph said.
