NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday made a surprise check of the Delhi Metro railway network by making a journey from Central Secretariat to Vishwavidyalaya. She decided to visit the stations after receiving complaints through e-mail and letters from commuters. Ms. Dikshit was satisfied with the maintenance inside the coaches and found signboards in perfect position. For improving general cleanliness, she suggested use of mechanical cleaners and vacuum cleaners. Also, she mentioned the need for checking seepage that was a cause of concern in some areas along with littering and spitting by the passengers. The Chief Minister also asked the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation authorities to tackle the seepage problem at Rajiv Chowk station because of a fountain at the ground level in the Central Park of Connaught Place. She pointed out that cobwebs were visible at some places and directed that plastic plates be put below flower pots at stations.
