Special Correspondent

Implementation of proposals to start by August 15, says Chief Minister

BANGALORE: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Thursday, said he would ensure that actual implementation of the budgetary proposals would commence by August 15.

Addressing a press conference in Bangalore soon after presenting the budget, the Chief Minister said steps would be taken to ensure that notifications are issued by various departments before August 15 regarding the commencement of implementation of the budgetary proposals. “Of course, the notifications would be issued after getting the approval of the legislature houses for the budgetary proposals.”

He said he would hold periodic review of the implementation of the budgetary proposals. Mr. Yeddyurappa said he had implemented a majority of the pre-poll promises made by his party in the budget. When it was pointed out to him that important promises like providing rice at Rs. 2 a kg were yet to be implemented, he maintained that instead of this, he had given some other benefits to the poor. Mr. Yeddyurappa said he felt satisfied that he could offer some kind of assistance through budgetary proposals to farmers in distress. “I am very happy, today, that I have been able to help farmers in my own little way,” he said.He termed some of the budgetary proposals made by him as “first of their kind in the country” and said he was confident of creating an additional 10 lakh jobs in the next five years.
