Farmers to adopt new system

TIRUCHI: The System of Rice Intensification (SRI) in paddy cultivation would be adopted in about 6,000 hectares during the kuruvai season in Tiruchi district, Collector T.Soundiah said.

Speaking at a training programme for farmers on SRI at Manpidimangalam near here on Thursday, Mr.Soundiah said that the technique would be promoted in 20,800 hectares during the samba season in the district.

He appealed to the farmers to adopt the technology as it could contribute to a substantial increase in yield.
