One killed, 8 injured as lorry overturns

TIRUPATTUR: One person was killed and eight others were injured when a lorry carrying bricks overturned at Pallavalli near Tirupattur on Thursday.

According to the police, the driver of the lorry lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve near the Pallavalli Electricity Board office.

The lorry overturned, killing load man Thangaraj (35) of Pallikuttai on the spot.

Eight persons, including four women, were injured. The injured include Rajendran (40), Raman (30), Sumathi (37), Eswari (32), Govindaraj (25), Shanti (29), Giriammal (25) and Singaram (30). The lorry driver fled the spot.

The Kurusilapattu police have registered a case and are investigating. — Staff Reporter
