KPR’s expansion works continue

COIMBATORE: Coimbatore-based KPR Mill Limited, an integrated apparel company, has started the second phase of its capacity expansion programme.

A release from the company said some of the works planned under the second phase were expansion of garment facility at Arasur, an additional hostel for workers, a design studio for garment operations, new knitting facility, doubling the capacity of the processing division and establishing a compact spinning facility at a total cost of Rs. 121 crore.

The design studio, with machinery imported from the U.S., and the knitting facility were already operational.

The release added that during the fourth quarter of 2007-2008, the net sales of the company increased by 28.3 per cent and net profit by 81.2 per cent. “Our model is changing gradually in favour of a more garment-led operation,” P. Nataraj, Managing Director of the mill, said.
