More amenities at Civil Station sought

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: District Congress Committee (DCC) president V.S.Sivakumar said here on Friday that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government had failed to ensure basic amenities at the new Civil Station at Kudappanakunnu before the inauguration of the complex.

A press note quoting Mr.Sivakumar says that the absence of transport facilities to the Civil Station would make it difficult for the public to reach the offices that are to be located there. “The government has announced that 21 offices are to be shifted to the new complex but even the approach roads have not yet been prepared.”

“The absence of adequate number of elevators in the multi storied building poses a serious hurdle for senior citizens and the infirm who manage to reach the premises”. Mr.Sivakumar appealed to the government to operate KSRTC services to the civil station from all the taluk headquarters.

Claiming that the construction of the civil station was approved during the tenure of Oommen Chandy as Chief Minister, he said the LDF had shown unnecessary haste in inaugurating the project. He alleged that the decision was aimed at reaping political mileage during the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.
