Guntakal sarpanches quit in protest

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: All the 19 sarpanches in Guntakal rural mandal in the district tendered resignation to their posts on Thursday in a mass protest against the alleged neglect of Mandal Parishad Development Officer, Radha, in implementing the development and welfare schemes in their villages.

They also allegedly ransacked furniture in the MPDO’s office, sent the staff out and locked it up in protest.

According to the information reaching here, the sarpanches alleged that the MPDO is acting as a dictator and is not giving them due respect as elected representatives. Her highhanded attitude is keeping their villages away from development, they stated.

All the 19 sarpanches and MPTC members of the mandal reached the office in the morning and staged a protest on the premises by raising slogans against the MPDO.
