Award for Geeta Chandran
Geeta Chandran
NEW DELHI: Chitra Kala Sangam, the Delhi-based socio-cultural-art organisation, has selected Bharatanatyam dancer Geeta Chandran for its 2008 award.
The award is in recognition of Geeta Chandran’s sustained and special contribution to Indian classical dance. It consists of a cash prize of Rs.20,000 and a citation.
The organisation has also honoured ten senior disciples of Geeta Chandran who through their dedication to their guru have kept alive the best tenets of India’s “Guru-Shishya Parampara”.
The student-awardees are: Sneha Chakradhar, Sharanya Chandran, Saudamini Kumar, Divya Saluja, Nandita Bhan, Gayatri Suresh, Gunjan Bhan, Mansi Trehan, Pushpita Saha and Mallika Ayesha Bhargava. Each award carries a cash prize of Rs.5,000 and a citation.
The awards were announced by Chitra Kala Sangam chairperson Virendra Prabhakar.
