Registrar office facing difficulties in identification Scam being probed by CBI, supervised by High Court NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has directed the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Delhi, to issue a public order carrying the names and addresses of genuine members of certain disputed cooperative group housing societies in the Capital for their identification. A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice Manmohan Sarin and Justice Veena Birbal passed the direction while hearing a petition seeking investigation into charges of hijacking of more than a hundred group housing societies by the builder mafia in the Capital. The Bench also asked a panel of lawyers constituted by it and the amicus curae to suggest other means for identifying the genuine members by this coming Monday, the next date of hearing. Earlier, the Registrar submitted that his office was facing difficulties identifying the genuine members of the societies. The alleged scam is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation under the supervision of the High Court. The petitioners, certain members of the UNI Employees’ CGHS, had in 2005 accused two individuals of hijacking their society, registered in 1971, fraudulently in connivance with government officials.
