20,000 teachers to be recruited by November

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: At least 20,000 B.Ed.-qualified teachers will be appointed in government schools by November, as a step towards tackling their shortage. The notification for the recruitment through the District Selection Committees will be issued soon.

The Teacher’s Recruitment Examination pattern will be changed from this year to test the English language skills of all candidates, C.B.S. Venkataramana, Principal Secretary, School Education, told The Hindu.

So far, the examination had been testing only general knowledge and knowledge in the respective subject of the candidates. But this year, a 20 mark objective-type section would be devoted to English language and grammar and is common to all candidates.
