Belgaum
Belgaum: The judicial remand of five terror suspects, allegedly associated with the banned SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India), namely Nasir Ahmed Patel, Ijaz Khan, Imtiyaz Dalayat, Nadeem Syed and Liyaquat Ali, has been extended till August 1, 2008. The five accused, serving judicial custody in Hindalga Central Jail near here, were produced in the JMFC – IV in the city on Friday. ChargesThe Special Squad of Belgaum had arrested the youth on charges of hatching a conspiracy to foment communal disturbance in different parts of the country. The five accused are also alleged to have hatched a plan to explode a bomb in Belgaum on the day of the polling for the State Assembly elections on May 22. The police are continuing investigations into the case.
