The three-member team will conduct tests on the patient and submit a report to the Collector GUNTUR: District Collector B. Venkatesham on Friday constituted a three member committee, consisting of Government General Hospital doctors to probe into the allegations levelled against a private doctor of Vinukonda in Guntur district by a woman that her kidney was removed by him during a surgery. The committee members are: Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department head Vasanth Kumar, assistant professor Kiran Kumar and Urologist Madhava Rao. This comes after a patient Dosakayalapati Subbamma (50) belonging to Viswanathapuram village in Tripuranthakam mandal of Prakasam district, lodged a complaint at Vinukonda police station that one of her kidneys had been missing since the surgery was performed two weeks ago. She said that she was suffering from acute pain and got admitted to a private hospital in Vinukonda. Abdominal surgeryThe doctor performed abdominal surgery and discharged the patient. After being discharged from the hospital, the woman allegedly found to her dismay that one of her kidneys was removed without her consent and immediately lodged a complaint with the police. She also wrote letters to District Collector and to the Chief Minister’s office. Based on her complaint, the Collector asked GGH superintendent D. Phanibhushan to probe into the allegations. The three-member team would conduct tests on the patient and submit a report to the Collector. Action would be taken against the doctor if he was found guilty in the report. Meanwhile, the doctor who performed surgery was believed to have said that he had to remove the kidney due to the complexity of the case and save the life of patient.
