Shyam Prasad triumphs

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shyam Prasad won the boys’ under-10 title in the Thiruvananthapuram district badminton championship at the Sri Moolam Club here on Friday.

In the final, Shyam Prasad defeated Aswin Chand 23-21, 21-8. Second seed J.K. Malavika toppled top-seed S. Shruthi 23-21, 21-8 to win the girls’ under-13 title.

Neethu Ninan will meet Priya Chandran in the final of the girls’ under-19 section.

In the semifinals, Neethu defeated Neha Narendran 21-19, 21-17 while Priya Chandran beat Malavika Mathen 21-13, 21-18.
