CAB election: Dalmiya enters fray

KOLKATA: Former ICC, BCCI and CAB president, Jagmohan Dalmiya, on Friday entered his panel of candidates for the ensuing elections of the Cricket Association of Bengal.

The July 29 annual general meeting is expected to see a bitter battle after the ruling group headed by Prasun Mukherjee named its panel a few days back. “I am 100 per cent confident of winning the election,” said Dalmiya just before his panel of candidates left for the CAB to file nomination papers.

The Dalmiya panel: President: Jagmohan Dalmiya; Vice-presidents: Samar Kar, Shibaji Dutta, Shiv Kumar Kalyani and Subhasish Sarkar; Joint secretaries: Arun Mitra and Biswarup Dey; Treasurer: Bablu Ganguly.

The Mukherjee panel: President: Prasun Mukherjee; Vice-presidents: Indranath Dey, Arijit Roy, Subhasish Sarkar and Prodyut Bose; Joint secretaries: Samar Paul and Amitava Banerjee; Treasurer: Tushar Sarkar.

The Dalmiya faction also named its candidates for trustee board: P.B. Dutta (chairman), Saradindu Pal, Rabi Mitra, Debabrata Bhattacharya and Bablu Koley. The ruling faction is yet to name its panel. — Special Correspondent
