Staff Reporter

He had been missing from his residence since Tuesday

NEW DELHI: The body of a retired senior Indian Oil official was found in his car at Dwarka here in the Capital on Friday under highly mysterious circumstances. Sixty-year-old Mahesh Goel had been missing since this past Tuesday.

According to the police, Mr. Goel was found lying dead on the rear seat of his Maruti Zen car in Sector 12 of Dwarka.

“The body was highly decomposed and it seemed it had been lying in the car for the past two days. There were no prominent injury marks and no blood stains. The body has been sent for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death,” said a police officer.

Residents being quizzed

The car was found parked at a deserted spot. The police said local residents were being questioned to gather clues to the mystery.

Mr. Goel, a resident of Mayur Vihar Phase I in East Delhi, reportedly left his residence for Gurgaon on July 15 and since then his whereabouts were not known. When he did not return home till late at night, the family got a complaint registered at the Mayur Vihar police station.

From his residence Mr. Goel reportedly had gone to meet his former colleagues at the Indian Oil office on Mathura Road. Later in the day he had left for Gurgaon.

The police are trying to gather information from the family to find out whether Mr. Goel had an enmity with someone. According to his family, he was a heart patient.
