Man gets 7-year RI for killing brother

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: First Additional Sessions Judge K. Vishwanathan Nair on Friday sentenced a 36-year-old man to seven years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.5,000 after he was found guilty of murdering his brother in front of his parents and siblings on February 2006.

In case of default of payment of the fine amount the convict has to undergo imprisonment for six more months. The prosecution case was that Surendran Nair stabbed his brother Binukuttan to death following a drunken brawl in front his house in Ayiroorppara. The convict’s father and sister testified before the court as witnesses. Additional Pubic Prosecutor Parinayam Devakumar appeared on behalf of the prosecution.
