E-governance services of Commercial Taxes launched

Special Correspondent

Form ‘W’ can now be filed online through the website

TIRUCHI: The e-governance services of the Commercial Taxes Department, including online filing of ‘W’ returns, e-request for saleable forms and online fast track check-post clearance system were launched here by the Minister for Commercial Taxes S.N.M. Ubayadullah.

Form ‘W,’ a return for input tax claims for exporting dealers on their zero-rated sales, could now be filed online through the website www.tnvat.gov.in.

The software for the web-based service has been developed in association with the National Informatics Centre. The system would do away with the manual filing of the returns at the Commercial Tax office.

The online system would do away with need for the dealer to visit the office and ensure speedy disbursement of refunds.

Similarly, dealers engaged in inter-state transactions could also file request for forms sold by the Department through the website.

The heads of the assessment circles of the department would process the request and notify the dealers the date for collecting the forms.

The status of the requests would also be available in the website.

Under the fast track clearance system, dealers can register through the website details of the goods being transported .

The acknowledgement generated through the website could be carried along with the goods.

At the highway check-posts, such dealers would be cleared through separate counters.

The officers at the check posts would make an entry in the website confirming the transport of the goods.

The Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, T. Jacob, P. Iyyappan, Joint Commissioner, and E. Rathinasamy, Deputy Commissioner, were present.
