Coimbatore: The Additional Director General of Police (Prisons), R. Nataraj, on Friday visited the Open Air Jail at Singnallur in the city. The ADGP accompanied by DIG of Prisons, Coimbatore Range, P. Munivelu, Superintendent of Prisons (in-charge), P. Govindharaj and Deputy Jailor, K. Venugopal, handed over 87 iron cots each costing around Rs. 3,050 each to the prison, the prison officials said. The ADGP inspected the 30-acre jail premises that accommodates 53 prisoners who had been convicted for five to 10 years of imprisonment. The prisoners work in agriculture fields producing vegetables, coconuts etc valued at Rs. 14.5 lakhs, the prison officials said.
