Nine kg opium seized
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: City police on Friday recovered nine kilograms of opium with the arrest of a person Khaja Wasiuddin, 30, of Jamshedpur village in Ranga Reddy district.
The accused confessed to the police that a Sikh, who used to sell Ayurvedic medicines, had taught him how to make opium. As per his guidance, Wasiuddin grew ‘Khas-Khas’ plants. By collecting fluid originating from the plants and drying it subsequently, he prepared the opium weighing nine kilograms valued at nearly Rs. 9 lakh in the market.
He was picked up when he came to Mehdipatnam looking for buyers. The arrested person was handed over to the Asifnagar police station.
