Accordingly, additional classrooms would be established on the premises of municipal schools located at Levinchipuram, Gin factory road, Sevanthakulam road, North Bhadrakaliamman koil road and Pandurangan street.

Refurbishment works would be taken up at the schools situated at Doovepuram, Shanmugapuram street, Samuelpuram street, Great Cotton road, South New street, Rahumatullapuram, North Bhadrakaliamman Koil street and Vadakkoor.

The council had decided to seek administrative and technical sanctions from the Government to revive the glory of historic Buckle Canal flowing through the heart of the town, where free flow of water had been blocked now, at a cost of Rs.29.50 crore.

Under the scheme, desilting would be carried out and retaining walls constructed, along the 5.89 km watercourse.
