Medico killed in wall collapse

GUNTUR: A house-surgeon of Guntur Medical College Tupakula Sampath Kumar was killed when the wall of a function plaza collapsed at Nagarampalem on Friday evening.

Four schoolchildren returning home had a providential escape. A native of Narsaraopet, Sampath Kumar was talking over phone to his parents and was returning home in heavy rain and gale when a part of the 15-feet high wall suddenly collapsed behind him. The four children walking in front of him ran to safety. However, Sampath Kumar was crushed.

An ambulance of the ‘108 service’ shifted the medico to Guntur General Hospital. Sampath Kumar was planning to go for further studies to the United States.
