Top leaders head for Delhi

HYDERABAD: Four days ahead of the crucial confidence vote to be faced by the UPA Government in the Lok Sabha, top political leaders from Andhra Pradesh are making a beeline to the national capital.

Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao will stay put in New Delhi till the Government seeks the trust vote on July 22.

On the direction of the AICC president that all the Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled States be present in Delhi, Dr. Reddy will leave on July 20.

Mr. Naidu too is leaving for New Delhi on Saturday morning and staying there till July 20. He is expected to meet the Left party leaders Prakash Karat and A. B. Bardhan and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati.

Talking to reporters before leaving for New Delhi, Mr. Rao said he would mediate in a meeting between Mr. Ajit Singh of the Rashtriya Lok Dal and Ms. Mayawati.
