HYDERABAD: The sixth convocation of the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) University of Law will be held on Saturday and Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram will be the chief guest. Justice A.R. Dave, Chief Justice of the A.P. High Court and Chancellor of the University, will award one LLD, three Ph.Ds, 20 LLM, 23 Masters degrees in Taxation and Business Law and 70 B.A., LLB (Hons) degrees along with gold medals at the convocation. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy will be the guest of honour. Justice P. Chandrasekhara Rao, formerly president of the International Tribunal for Law of the Sea, will be honoured with the degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) Honoris Causa at the convocation while Ph.Ds would be awarded to Narasimha Rao, P. Vijaya Kalyani and Sudhir Raja Ravindran. Manish Aggarwal will be receiving 17 gold medals, the highest in the NALSAR history, while Megha Ramani will be receiving six gold medals.Prof. Ranbir Singh, founder Vice-Chancellor of the NALSAR, will give charge to the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor Veer Singh after the convocation. Prof. Ranbir Singh will take over as the Vice-Chancellor of National Law School, New Delhi. Terming his stint at the NALSAR as a totally satisfying one, Mr. Singh said NALSAR had been ahead of Harvard in International Moot Courts like Jessup Moot Court for the last few years.
