Gorakhpur (UP): The number of flood affected villages has risen to 101 as rivers Rapti, Ami and Ghaghra threatened to overflow above the danger level in the district, official sources said here on Saturday. The Rapti river is only 84 centimetres below the danger mark in Gorakhpur, with rising trend, according to Central Water Commission. Also, several villages in Barhalganj area of the district have been inundated. Sahjanwa, Gola and Khajni tehsils of the district remained most affected where 19 villages are marooned. “The situation is not out of hands, but we are keeping a close watch,” sources said.
