‘Bandhs cannot disrupt studies’

KURNOOL: Andhra Pradesh Human Rights Commission banned bandhs and strikes that affect the functioning of schools in the State.

Acting upon a petition filed by AP Private Schools Managements Association and parents, the Commission directed the Principal Secretary, Education, Director of School Education and Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad to ensure that the functioning of schools was not affected during protests.

The Commission observed that right to education was an important fundamental right enshrined in the Constitution after right to health.The Commission directed the functionaries concerned to file compliance reports by July 21. Five working days were affected this month.
