House Panel reviews schemes for BCs

KURNOOL: The House Panel on Backward Classes, headed by B. Saraiah reviewed various schemes and programmes in support of backward classes at a meeting here on Saturday.

Members of the panel Rajalingam, Ratnakumari, Narayana Rao, Subba and Tippe Swamy were present. After a review and receiving the representations from the representatives of BC organiations, Mr. Saraiah and other members expressed satisfaction over the way BC welfare activities were taken up in the district.

Mr. Saraiah asked Joint Collector Chakravarti and Principal of Medical College to surrender Viswanatha Reddy, surgical professor who allegedly discriminated against the BC students, to the government and initiate action against him.

Earlier, the BC leaders complained to the panel the issues pertaining to the medical college professor and attack on washermen at Manchalakatta.

The Chairman asked the police to send a report on the action taken against the persons who allegedly assaulted and subjected washermen to social boycott for demanding enhancement in the wages.
