Many attend CARD

Staff Reporter

Aim is to take job opportunities to students’ doorstep

Kakinada: A huge number of graduates and Intermediate students participated in the 13th Career Awareness and Recruitment Drive (CARD) organised on the JNTU campus here on Saturday by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) and Andhra University.

More than 7,000 students applied for jobs in Genpact, HSBC, Infosys, ICICI Prudential Insurance, Reliance Insurance, First Sources Solutions, India Infoline and EMRI.

Addressing the students, APSCHE Chairman K.C. Reddy said CARD was intended to take job opportunities to the doorstep of students in the semi-urban and rural areas and create awareness about the job opportunities available in the private sector.

He suggested to the students to focus on improving their communication skills without which they could not succeed in getting jobs in reputed companies.

Mr. Reddy observed that the conventional system of education failed to address these concerns of the students for whom job opportunities had grown by leaps and bounds but appeared to be a distant dream due to their inability to deliver what the industry expected from them.

Andhra University Vice-Chancellor B. Satyanarayana said efforts were on to revamp the higher education curriculum to enable the students to suit the changing needs of employers.

“There is no dearth of opportunities as the economy has been opened for the entry of multi-national companies, which are offering lucrative yet challenging jobs,” he added.

Nannaya University Vice-Chancellor K. Nirupa Rani, APSCHE Secretary M.D. Christopher, NASSCOM Regional Director Bidhan Kankate, Institute of Service Management Director C. Bhanu, JNTU Engineering College Principal E.V. Prasad, and others were present.
