Buses not to ply

PUDUCHERRY: The Pondicherry Bus (Stage Carriage) Owners’ Association on Saturday said fleet operators would not ply their buses on July 21 to highlight the demand for fare revision.

In a statement here, president of the association B. Kannan said that though the cost of diesel had risen from Rs.16.80 a litre to Rs.35.46 a litre during the last six-and-a-half years, bus fare continued to be 23 paise a km. The association had made several representations to the government seeking fare revision but to no avail.
