PUDUCHERRY: The Consumer Association of Puducherry has urged the Chief Minister to come out with a clear picture on the financial status of the Union Territory and allay the fears of the public in this regard. In a statement released here on Saturday, the president of the association, S.Vaithianathan, referred to the statements issued by Ministers on the lack of funds to execute any scheme or work. “One Minister goes to the extent that around Rs.300 crore are due to be paid to the contractors for the works they have already done and an overall amount of Rs. 2,000 crore is needed to tide over the present financial crisis,” he said. Mr. Vaithianathan wondered if the pre-budget proposals and discussions were held or not before its presentation and approval by the Assembly.
