Workshop on action plans for local bodies held Officials asked to discharge their duties properly HAVERI: Haveri Zilla Panchayat president Parameshappa Megalamani has said that officials and elected representatives are equally responsible for initiating developmental projects in the panchayati raj system. Inaugurating a workshop on “Comprehensive action plan for local bodies” here on Friday, Mr. Megalamani said if officials and elected representatives failed to discharge their duties properly, it would adversely affect rural development and social welfare measures. Adviser to the Abdul Nazir Sab Rural Development Institute Wilfred D’Souza explained the guidelines to be followed while chalking out the comprehensive action plan and spoke of the eligibility criteria for receiving assistance from the Union Government. Project officer of the Haveri District Rural Development Institute S.C. Mahesh said the Union Government had developed a new software called “Plan Plus” to help make the process of planning easier for local bodies and added that it would be made available to them soon. Zilla panchayat chief executive officer K.S. Aralikatti and members of the district planning committee were present.
