The administrative block of KVK was built at a cost of Rs. 2 crore CHAMARAJANAGAR: The district in-charge and Minister for Food and Civil Supplies H. Halappa has said that the State Government will extend its support to Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) set up in the State to ensure food security. He was speaking after inaugurating the new building of the administrative block of KVK, built at a cost of Rs. 2 crore at Haradanahalli near here on Saturday. He said the country’s farmer was in distress and that it was the duty of the elected Government to protect the welfare of farmers. Mr. Halappa said the welfare of the State is possible only when the life of rural farmers are happy. He said though we are able to manufacture hundreds of materials utilising Information Technology, we fail to produce enough foodgrains. Mr. Halappa said Chief Minister Yeddyurappa had announced a pro-farmer budget. He said the budget had earmarked Rs. 2,000 crore for the welfare of farmers in the State. ‘Utilise benefits’He called upon the farmers to utilise the benefits of KVK to grow more foodgrains. He also called upon the scientists of KVK to extend their service to farmers to ensure food security. M. Mahadevappa, the Vice-Chancellor of Agriculture University, Chengappa, in-charge Deputy Commissioner and CEO of ZP, G. Jayaram were present.
