Teachers plan agitation

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Members of the Karnataka State School-Colleges teachers, Non-Teaching Employees’ and Management Committees Federation will launch a fast from July 22 in support of demands, including release of salaries for the D group employees and non teaching employees of the aided colleges and schools in the State.

Federation president C.H. Gouder told presspersons here on Saturday that the D grade and non-teaching employees had not been given a service structure by the colleges and schools coming under the government aid scheme for the last 20 years.

He said the condition of degree college lecturers and teachers was not any better as they were reeling under delayed payment of salaries. In many cases, the teachers and non-teaching employees deserved to be included in retrospective salary fitment, he said.

The other demands included uniform service structure and social security.
