ELCOT brings its laptops to students of Thanjavur

Trial run: Students operating a laptop at a road show organised by ELCOT in Thanjavur on Saturday.
THANJAVUR: Laptop computers were on display for the students to choose and purchase at a road show organised by the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) at the Collectorate here on Saturday.
Inaugurating it, Collector C. Vijayaraj Kumar, said that ELCOT was giving the computers to students, government employees and defence personnel at an affordable price under its student notebook computer scheme.
He said that students can have a hand on experience on the computers before they choose to buy them. The price is Rs.31,717 and Rs.29,429 under two options of sale available.
“This is very less compared to the cost of laptop computers of private companies which are priced at Rs.53,000,” the Collector said.
Students can log on to www.elcot.in to register and book online for the computers. It will come to your house, the Collector said.
School students queued up to have a hand on experience on the computers. Many parents also visited the show and booked computers.
